Angie, I have asked you questions from time to time about youth group, home schooling…now vaccines. Do you vaccinate at all? How do you find out your information about which ones to do, if any? I did vaccinate my older kids, now 11 and 12, but they did not get Hep B or chx pox. I, in my ignorant youth, did decide those shots appeared ridiculous to me and did not do those. My younger two have been vaccinated up to a point. Clay never got the ones at 4 (he’s 6) and Casadie stopped at 15 mo. She is 3. She really isn’t behind, but Clay is. He is also the child that first caused me to give pause on shots. He has allergies and as a baby he reacted poorly after getting shots. He would run high fevers, stomach pains, irritable for days…a week or more. My main concern at this point is chicken pox. I assumed they would catch them, but since everyone is vaccinated no one gets them. I have heard it is worse if you get it as an older person or if you get it while pregnant. I’m wondering if I need to bite the bullet and get that one. I’m also concerned for my allergic child. I am hesitant to EVER get any more shots for him. I realize I will dropped from my pediatrician for not being up to date on shots. Who sees little children in that case? And… We are expecting again. Is there a doctor that would see a newborn that isn’t a pediatrician that doesn’t care if you vaccinate or will do an alternate schedule?
